1. The blade sharpening process takes too long, resulting in wasted sharpening time.
2. The sharpening intervals are too short, and the frequency of sharpening is too high.
3. The air pressure of the sharpener is too high. (In severe cases, this can cause the blade to crack or the grinding wheel to shatter.)

2. The cardboard is too damp, or the cardboard being cut contains a high amount of sand.

01. If the blade shatters during sharpening, it is usually caused by a damaged bearing on the grinding wheel shaft, resulting in wheel wobble. Minor wobble can cause notches in the blade’s teeth, while significant wobble can subject the blade to excessive impact forces, causing it to shatter.
2. If a new blade breaks immediately after installation, check the grinding wheel assembly; ensure the blade holder is properly tightened and adjusted; or verify that the air pressure during sharpening is not too high.
3. Excessive cutting resistance can sometimes cause the cut edges of the cardboard to form an S-shaped notch; in severe cases, this can cause the blade to break. For high-grammage cardboard, use thicker blades to ensure sufficient strength.
4. Accidental blade impact: For example, metal foreign objects on the cardboard or foreign objects on the anvil. Sometimes, blade breakage can also occur if the blade holder is not raised when the slitter is reloading blades.
